Dear Lori,

When I got home from work today, your tape was on the top of my mail pile. I had to pop it right into the stereo and listen, and I am charmed. I made myself a tape playing " Vincent's World " over & over. I am sitting here listening and still crying a little as I write to you. When I played the song for a friend who stopped by, he said, " Oh, now I understand why you love that show so much " .
" Yes " , I said, " It's the world we all want, that we're trying so hard to create. " My friend is very involved in the struggle to bring forth his vision of how the world should be, as are many other people I know. It gets very hard to hold a vision that doesn't exist. Beauty and the Beast helps to create and hold the vision, and " Vincent's World " does a fine job of expressing much of what draws us to the world below. It's beautiful.

I would like 25 copies of the tape, and maybe the melody line, with guitar chords if you have them. I plan on learning it on my guitar, and singing it with a local Girl Scout troop. I plan on giving the tape with a copy of the book to all my friends for Christmas.
Thanks for writing the song, and to Andy Celley and Bill Robinson for their part in it. The arrangement fits right in with B&B music. Thanks for sharing it, and for your letter. Thanks too to Howard Gordon who, I understand suggested putting it on the Helper's Network. I think you should try to put it on the radio. Wow ! What an undertaking.

My very, very best to you,

Eleanor Clark

Dear Lori,

I just have to share this with you because you're so much a part of why it happened. This evening I received a call from my friend Barb. She wanted to thank me for the Christmas gift I'd given her. She said it had been truly so special and had helped her Christmas be wonderful when a few days before, her world had appeared to, briefly at least, fall apart. After the situation was resolved and things got back to normal, more or less, she decided that " if ever I need to open a present early it is now. " She chose to open mine, and she said it made her Christmas. It held a special significance for her after her experience. Of course, the gift she opened was " Vincent's World " .
Barb is a recent convert to "Beauty and the Beast" and has really come to appreciate it. She loves you song and said she and her family have listened to it over and over. It has brought her joy. The magic of "Beauty and the Beast" ,that has touched so many of us, and inspired you to write " Vincent's World " , continues to grow.
The light is shared and passed on. For Barb it meant sharing Christmas with a young girl who might otherwise have had no place to go. Barb thanked me so much for my gift and called me a "dear friend". May I in turn say the same to you: Thank you, dear friend, for your "gift" of " Vincent's World " and the happiness it has brought.

Your Minnesota Friend,
Gina

Lyrics and Credits for Vincent's World

" V I N C E N T ' S    W O R L D "

SOMETIMES I FEEL THAT I JUST DON'T BELONG

IN THIS WORLD THAT BLURS RIGHT AND WRONG

WHERE THE NAME OF THE GAME IS VENGEANCE AND HATE

AND THEY DON'T SEE THE LIGHT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE

WAY TOO LATE

THAT'S WHEN I GO DOWN TO A PLACE

THAT NO ONE KNOWS A SECRET PLACE

A WORLD AWAY A SPECIAL WORLD

THE WORLD OF VINCENT

HE TAKES ME IN AND MAKES ME FEEL

THAT I AM SAFE THAT I AM HOME

SO SAFE AND WARM AND SAFE FROM HARM

AND I AM LOVED

THEN I RETURN TO THE WORLD ABOVE

MORE ABLE TO COPE BUT MY THOUGHTS ARE OF

THE WONDERFUL MAGICAL WORLD BELOW

AND I'M NEVER QUITE HAPPY UNTIL I GO ONCE AGAIN

TO VINCENT'S WORLD

THAT'S WHEN I GO DOWN TO A PLACE

THAT NO ONE KNOWS A SECRET PLACE

A WORLD AWAY A SPECIAL WORLD

THE WORLD OF VINCENT

HE TAKE'S ME IN AND MAKE'S ME FEEL

THAT I AM SAFE THAT I AM HOME

SO SAFE AND WARM AND SAFE FROM HARM

AND I AM LOVED

IT'S O.K. GOOD IT'S O.K. FINE

IT'S VINCENT'S WORLD
