As we watched "Beauty and the Beast" the first time round, we found each episode, moments that captured our hearts. These in turn became so meaningful and special to us, allowing us each time we hear them, to eascape as it were to the 'tunnels'. But in order to relive these moments, we had to replay our videos. So, I have captured on audio tape, all those precious moments. You can pop the tape into your walkman or radio or system, and be there with Vincent and Catherine... If you would like me to do one for you, then send me on 90 minute audio tape, and £3.00 (or $7) to cover costs only including postage and packaing. ~ NEW ON VIDEO FOR SEPTEMBER 2000 ~ PARTS 1 & 2 The life and times of London’s greatest author Roy Dotrice (Brief Lives, The Caretaker) stars as Charles Dickens in the major Yorkshire Television Drama series about the life and times of one of England’s greatest novelists - now available from Granada Video/VCI on two double video volumes. The 13 episodes - originally transmitted in 1976 - trace the life and times of this great writer, from his early penniless days in Chatham and London during the 1820s, to the unprecedented success he enjoyed on both sides of the Atlantic before his early death in 1870 at the age of 58. Dickens' life in many respects was as dramatic as the lives led by some of the characters in his novels. Indeed many of his novels are based on or reflect various episodes and stages of his own strange life. Born into a penniless family of eight children, Dickens endured a poverty-stricken childhood. His father was a loveable drunkard, an irresponsible but mesmeric figure who heavily influenced Charles. Sent out to work early to supplement the meagre family income Charles suffered six months of hellish torment at Warrens Blacking Factory. However, ambition and determination led him to a career as a reporter in the House of Commons and it was at this time that his first fictional story was published. Soon he had the country crying out for more, and with success, wealth and a family of his own Dickens' life appeared blissful. However, his happiness and mental health were severely affected by a tragic death, and a recurring dream. The question on everyone's mind was whether or not he would ever write again… This moving account of his life is filled with great happiness and triumph as well as deep sadness and tragedy, and makes compelling viewing for any fan of his works. Dickens of London also stars Diana Coupland, Gene Foad and Simon Bell, and was the first venture into television for novelist, playwright and film writer Wolf Mankowitz (Casino Royale). Release date: 11 Sept 2000 / Cat No: GV0251/GV0252 / Cert: PG / Length: 350/304 mins approx / Price: £14.99 each Issued by the Granada Video Press Office For further information, please contact Katy Prout on 020-7633 2740.
