Shakespeare at Play has first award dinner

The newly formed Shakespeare at Play is sponsoring its first Person of the Year Award Dinner honoring Roy Dotrice at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Lunaria, 10351 Santa Monica Blvd.

Special guests and speakers are Gabriel Byrne, Gary Oldman, Diana Douglas, Linda Hamilton, Della Reese, Ron Perlman and Jay Acovone.

Shakespeare at Play is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a repertory of classical plays designed to create paying work for talent while generating donations for charities and schools.

Professional actors and directors perform live classical theater used as fund-raising vehicles for organizations that further children's interests, conservation, medical research, mental and physical well being and educational experiences.

The company is funded exclusively by grants and private donations and is not compensated from the charities and schools for which they perform.

Tickets are $100. For reservations, call Burbank resident Debbie Gates, executive director, at 566-1925.
