From Helper Pat Paone comes word of some pix of Ron available on the Perlman Pages. Pat says Ron was attending "the premiere of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film "Amelie" in LA on October 9."
You can look at these pix at: http://www.theperlmanpages.i12.com
Thanks, Pat!

It's evidently been a good time for Ron (and Linda) Sightings. Photographer/Helper Al Ortega reports, "Wow, it was a one two punch this week for Beauty and the Beast spottings! First Ron Perlman came with his wife and daughter to the Los Angeles premiere of "Amelie." The film is directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet who directed Ron in both City Of Lost Children and Alien: Resurrection. The event took place on October 9, 2001 at the Academy Theater in Beverly Hills, CA.

The following evening Linda Hamilton came to the Showtime screening of What Girls Learn, produced and starring Scott Bakula. The event was to benefit Win Against Breast Cancer and premieres on Showtime Oct 17 at 8:00PM. It was held on the Paramount Studios lot in the Paramount Theater in Hollywood."

I've posted the pix Al kindly sent along at the Helpers' Network website, in this update:

Helper Gwenda reports, "Hi from South Africa. The Magnificent Seven is back on our TV at 7.00pm on Tuesday night. HOORAY!!!!!!!!"

I'm glad the series, in which Ron Perlman was of course a regular, is repeating and thank Gwenda for relaying this good news.

In regard to which, there's this related news from Helper Beth Blighton (who LIKES Clancy Brown!!!):

Here's a bit of news that might be of interest to some of the Magnificent Seven fans in B&B fandom...

As the Mag 7 fans may have heard last year from John Watson (the show's executive producer), his
Trilogy Entertainment production company was working on a new series called "Breaking News." Thirteen episodes have been filmed and are in the can, but TNT decided to never air the show -- which got caught up in the network's big merger with AOL, and was never even looked at by the ultimate decision makers! The cast includes Clancy Brown, Tim Matheson, Scott Bairstow &, Lisa Ann Walter, and the show is, in a word, amazing!

We were able to attend a special screening last weekend of all the episodes, and we were totally blown away by the quality & timeliness of the series.

http://www.geocities.com/skipperytoo/BreakingNewsScreening.html

When I spoke to someone high up in "Breaking New's" production this week, I was told that they are still in the process of showing it to other networks, in hopes that it might find a home. I was also told that **CBS** might be a network worth writing a polite letter to, encouraging them to pick up the series.

So... knowing how some of our Mag 7 fans might like to support a John Watson production, and how GOOD all us old B&B fans are at writing letters -- especially to CBS! -- I thought I would pass the word on in case anyone was interested in sharpening up their pencils again. The address for CBS is:

Les Moonves
c/o CBS
Television City
7800 Beverly Blvd.
Los Angeles CA 90036

Thanks for all your help!
Beth Blighton

Speaking of things associated with writing, newbie fan (isn't it nice to know there are some just discovering the series??!) Helper Shelley has a suggestion. Since we didn't get a marathon in August/September, as Hallmark's website had promised, how about if we NUDGE them a little?

Shelley says, I've recently become a fan of Beauty and the Beast. I have submitted feedback at http://www.odysseyonline.com asking for a marathon. Has anyone started an e-mail campaign for this? If Hallmark is made aware that many people want this, they might do it for us.

--Shelley

Nan again. http://www.hallmarkchannel.com also works (their current/new name). I'm not proud: now that I'm sure the series is still continuing on Hallmark, I'd be willing to beg for a marathon. What's to lose? Drop them a post and let's see if we can get something going in regard to Shelley's excellent idea!

Helper Jeff Carden helped satisfy my curiosity about the mysterious Showcase Diva, where we're told Beauty & the Beast is airing on weekends, per Helper Cathy Whiting (last week's update) in Canada. Jeff says:

Here's the web site for Showcase Diva.  It doesn't appear to have a very comprehensive schedule of listings yet.

http://www.showcase.ca/diva

It does appear to be only available in Canada, mostly in the East unless you're part of one of the satellite systems.  Here's the link for the channel providers.

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff! Northern B&B fans may want to check out this apparently start-up station and send appreciative and encouraging words to them supporting their airing of the series.

Here are a couple of ways you can contribute to the varied efforts to provide relief for those in New York City who were affected by the events of September 11th. I think we all know that Vincent, Father, and the Tunnel Community are heavily involved in doing whatever they can for anyone in need and in reach. Since our reach is a bit longer than theirs, I thought I'd pass along what had been forwarded to me by the Chesapeake Helpers:

Soup for New York with just One Click

C'mon sports fans...check this out!
It's fast and easy and  real. So no excuses for not getting soup  donated. All of you have 1 minute to  spare!

People in New York and DC are going to be  having to hit foodbanks hard. There will  be a need in NY for the soup. Here is an easy way to help....

Campbell's is donating a can of soup to  area foodbanks just by clicking on a football helmet at their website. Now, I know  there are some pretty diehard football fans out there (The  Ravens are not in the Top 5 of donators), so let's see which team gets the most  support and help some hungry people, too! It's quick, easy, and can be done  once a day.

To date Green Bay has over  100,000, while the Ravens have about  6,000. Here is a hyper link to directly connect you to  their website. Just click on  this web address:
http://www.chunky.com/click_for_cans
then  click on your favorite  team's helmet and Campbell has donated a can of  soup.
That is it! Please pass this to a friend  or 2,3,4...

From Helper Sally Newman, this hint about airy Samhain garb:

Halloween bird mask

Thought some of you might enjoy this article on making a bird mask much like the one Catherine wore. This is from the HGTV series. There was an earlier show (article) which gave directions for an easy lion mask to make from a pattern you could print from the computer. Can't seem to find that one now. If anybody sees it, please let me know.BR>BR>The site for the bird mask is: http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158,CRHO_project_2956,FF.html

Thanks, Sally!

However, Sally's news was not all good nor lighthearted. Wearing her Father's Fan Fare hat, she reports that she got a long distance call from Astrid Lenior. She found out today [10/10/01] that she has breast cancer. This is very scary to her (as it would be for any of us) due to her family history. She says that she will go in for an operation in about 3 weeks. I know there are many of you who know her and have kept up correspondence with her over the years as I have. Please send her an encouraging note if you can.

Astrid Lenior
01131 2990 42271 Iachtwagenstraat 131 HUISBR
1445 NK Purmerend Netherlands, Holland

I've certainly know Astrid's name for years and years and had some correspondence with her, back in the days when I did correspondence. I'm sure notes from all over would do much to cheer and encourage her. I hope some of us may drop her a friendly note to help her get through her operation, and whatever follows, with the knowledge that people all over are thinking of her and wishing her well. Given international postage, if you want to send such a heartening note in time, you need to send it winging soonly….

The Sightings through 10/29 are posted at http://home.fuse.net/helpnet/sight.htm. There's a Ron Perlman movie, The King's Guard, that I'm unfamiliar with, airing on some of the Showtime channels this month. You may want to check it out.

Helper Judy Adams' ,html posts proved a treasure trove of supporting cast Sightings. I've cleared away the coding debris, and I'll add them to the online Sightings as soon as I get the chance--perhaps tomorrow evening if Life does not intervene.

If it's news and has to do with Beauty and the Beast, please think of the Hotline and relay. We're all in this together keeping the dream of Beauty and the Beast alive however we can. Beast wishes, be well, and goodbye.

ADDENDUM RECEIVED LATER SAME DAY...

Drat! I forgot to include this item, so I'm sending it chasing the update, since it's timely. I received this information both from Gwen Lord, of Helpers Network UK, and from Simon Huggins, who keeps their website:

From Gwen Lord, Helpers Network UK:

Following a phone call from David Greenlee (Mouse in our beloved B&B US TV series).

David wants me to pass on information about him.
There will be an article about him (with many photos) in People Magazine (Oct. 22 edition)

All David fans will want this unique and collectable magazine.

Nan again. You'll recall the effort to help David locate photos from his stint in the TV series FAME. Perhaps you'd like to see what was located and used.
