Helper/Correspondent Darlene Sullivan feels now is not a good time to write to CBS on behalf of Roy Dotrice. Although I included the address I was given, it apparently is wrong: I'd take Darlene's information over anyone else's at any time.

Here's what Darlene said:

I'm sending this to those most likely to be able to reach the greatest number of B&B/Roy Dotrice fans. Nan's last Update brought news that Roy Dotrice will appear on a future "Touched By An Angel" episode and fans were encouraged to write to CBS to ask that Roy be given a regular role on the show. However, the New York address provided to Nan was incorrect. Only CBS news shows ("48 Hours" and "60 Minutes") have a New York address. Of course, Nan's Update was sent unknowing of the terrorist disaster in New York and writing to CBS in New York at this time is inappropriate for any reason.

The following is the correct address for CBS television programs. Please save it to send letters supporting Roy and, also, for letters to Alex Gansa supporting his new series "Wolf Lake." Always include in the address the TV show's title and the actor/producer/writer you are writing to, and attach a SASE to your letter for a better chance of receiving a reply.

CBS Productions "Wolf Lake"       CBS Productions "Touched By An Angel"
7800 Beverly Blvd.        7800 Beverly Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA  90036    Los Angeles, CA  90036
Attention: Alex Gansa

Darlene Sullivan

Nan again: We all thank Darlene for her thoughtfulness and accuracy.

Here's a message from Roy Dotrice, relayed (in turn) by Gwen Lord of the Roy Dotrice Fan Association and by Helper Kathy Bayne (whom I thank):

Dearest Friends,

My heart goes out to all those who have suffered so dreadfully during the horrendous events of the past week.

Yet I have never felt more proud of America and Americans.

How can we not be proud of the magnificent sacrifices made by firefighters, police and rescue workers?

Heroes, every one!

May God Bless You All,
Roy Dotrice

Kathy also let me know that artist Pam Tuck (who lives in the NYC area and about whose well-being many were worried) has recently talked to Gwen Lord and therefore is presumably well and accounted for. Thanks, Kathy, for this welcome news.

In response to my suggestion, last time, that an online database of contact info for the fandom might be set up, Helper Jeff Cardin, an experienced programmer, has volunteered to take on that task. I'm delighted! His site is still under development (though it looks EXCELLENT!), so don't send him anything yet. However, for the web-shy among you, let me throw out a couple of thoughts. I've had my name, address, and phone number posted on the web for several years, now, and all that's come if it is some rather odd and unasked-for ads for viagra. Second, you could have the option of listing ONLY your name, state, zip, (or country, if outside the US) and e-mail address. That way, someone reading the listing could have a general idea where you lived (if you were in range of someone needing help, for instance) and could contact you by e-mail. Then you'd have the option to respond or not, but wouldn't have put anything compromising or excessively personal out in public. I think that would allow everybody online to pass along their contact information without committing themselves to anything that would make them nervous.

I've also heard from Peg McNabb, developer of the hard-copy fan directory (no longer in print), about this project. She rightly points out that much of the fandom is still not online. However, anybody can get online access at any public library--they have computers one can use FREE--so do pass along word of this contact database under development and encourage people to be open to the idea whether they have computers in their homes or not. We can only do what we can do, and a listing online is currently the best--perhaps the ONLY--way this kind of information can be made available to a large segment of the fandom.

When Jeff says he's ready to go, I'll let you know and pass along whatever method he suggests for giving him your contact information--however much or little that may be, in each individual case.

Helper Shiloh Ditser
kindly sent us a current Sighting:

I have a little B&B cast news for you! Do you remember "Jason Walker", played by Dorian Harewood, from the episode, 'Terrible Savior'? I'm sure you do. Well he's has a role in Mariah Carey's big screen debut 'Glitter'. He plays Billie's (MC) music producer in the film. So my guess is that he has a fairly big part in the movie as well. The movie opens this Friday, Sept. 21, 2001 NATIONWIDE! Now if for some reason you can't find it at your local theater, don't fret, it'll be there w/ in the coming week(s); it's just some places aren't getting it this weekend b/c of the airlines (they have to ship the movie). I'm also a HUGE Mariah fan, so I'm definitely gonna see it! I think it's going to be a good movie, it's a comedy/drama/musical all in one. The premise is that of a young singer named Billie (Carey) who gets her break in the early 80's while singing at a night club. The DJ who discovers her becomes her musical partner, & lover. Throughout the movie Billie tries to cope w/ the fact that her mother abandoned her as a child. So I can't wait for 'Glitter' to shine in the theaters this weekend! The soundtrack is out on Virgin records and features the hits 'Loverboy' and a beautiful ballad 'Never Too Far'. It'll also be nice to see "Jason" on the big screen. Well I hope all the B&B fans go to see it, you WON'T be disappointed.

Be Well...

Shiloh
