I'll start with an always interesting update from Helper/Correspondent
Darlene Sullivan
Darlene says:
This is the season for pilot pickups. Variety reports that Alex Ganza (who,
with Howard Gordon, wrote many of the scripts for B&B) has teamed with
Barry Sonnenfeld, Barry Josephson and the legendary author Elmore Leonard
for a TV drama "Forever Young," formerly known as "Louse
Point." The drama
is about an action series actor who becomes a private investigator after
his acting career fails. The Fox network has officially made an order for
the series. Casting is going on now with, hopefully, a 2001 fall debut.
Armin Shimerman [Pascal] has resigned his post as longtime co-chair of the
Screen Actors Guild Agents Relations Committee. He will continue to
co-chair the guild's Wages & Working Conditions Committee, and will serve
on the guild's negotiating committee in upcoming talks for a new film and
TV contract. Shimerman, who is known for his level head and calm demeanor,
said "I'm not leaving because of the agents negotiations...the burden of
(the SAG committees) commitments made me chose between the two." The
Association of Talent Agents said in a statement, "The ATA is disappointed
to learn that Armin Shimerman has resigned as the SAG Agency
co-chair...Armin was a constructive voice and a proponent of open
dialogue...keeping the actors' interests as his highest priority. Armin
tried hard to understand and solve the problems of the agency business in
the 21st Century. His guidance and advice will be missed." From The
Hollywood Reporter.

Thanks for this news, Darlene.

A Helper who prefers anonymity reports, "I just saw Ron on last week's (Feb
1) episode of the WB's "Charmed." I taped and watched it today, and I
didn't know he was on until the opening credits. I'm not sure how to look
out for the rerun in advance... maybe you can pass this on." Thanks,
Helper! Helper Nancy Cochren also caught this episode, in which Ron
apparently plays a demon recruiter! Maybe that's a way to identify it the
next time around. Thanks, Nancy!
