Top of the news is an update from Helper/Correspondent Darlene Sullivan:
Hi All -
Linda Hamilton appeared on Entertainment Tonight this week to promote her
role in a new four-hour, four-part miniseries "A Girl Thing," on
Cable's
Showtime. Miss Hamilton appears in Part Three. It is my understanding it
has already run this past week and will repeat before the end of January,
but please check the Linda Hamilton On Line web site for exact dates. The
movie's gala premiere, although abridged for the evening, was held on
January 19, at the Directors Guild Theatre. Lee Rose, who wrote, directed
and produced the miniseries, when originally asked by Showtime how would
she cast seventeen female roles said she'll send her script to the
actresses and, of course, they all called saying yes. Miss Hamilton appears
in the third story as the woman Lynn Whitfield hires as the decoy to bait
her husband, Scott Bakula, who's having an affair with an "older woman, a
waitress" (Mia Farrow.) Miss Lee said she wrote the four stories in eight
weeks. Except for Mia Farrow, Bruce Greenwood and Brian Kerwin, the
all-star cast attended the party and visited with the premier-goers.
Perhaps some of us recall that Lee Rose wrote the 1996 TV movie, "A
Mother's Prayer," which starred Miss Hamilton and garnered her the 1996
Cable Ace Award for Best Actress in a Movie or Miniseries. Miss Rose was
nominated for Hollywood's prestigious Humanitas Award.
On the ET show, Miss Hamilton looked radiant and spoke of her satisfaction
with her current single lifestyle and the chore of re-entering the dating
world at age 44. She added that having young children doesn't make it any
easier. Pressed about how her former husband and his wife might view her at
this point (James Cameron and Susan Ames now expecting their first child),
Miss Hamilton answered she hoped they'd see someone who has gone forward
and is enjoying life.
Delroy Lindo (Isaac Stubbs, the self-defense teacher B&B's "No Way
Down")
has evolved into one of Hollywood's most respected, much in demand actors.
On January 29 in Los Angeles, he begins filming "The One" as co-lead
with
Jason Statham opposite Jet Li. Lindo and Li previously co-starred in "Romeo
Must Die." The $48 million sci-fi/action thriller has a premise that there
are multiple universes with people similar to us in each of them. Lindo,
with Statham as his partner, play agents whose job is to ensure that people
don't traverse these universes. They patrol the universes to prevent
renegade Jet Li from attempting to kill all of the other people like
himself. The movie is set to be released August 10.

Judy also passes along the news (news to me, anyway) that there's a webring
of sites devoted to The Magnificent 7. Probably the easiest way to access
it is to go to Judy's own website:
http://www.geocities.com/Cat_412J/index.html
and then scroll down the page until you come to the webring link. Then
start hop-skipping from one random site to the next, bookmarking the ones
you find particularly appealing.
For all this information, many thanks, Judy!

Helper Khadi offers an offbeat Sighting. She says,
"Hello Nan and all,
Well...this has to be the tiniest and stingiest of all sightings...but you
can all imagine my delight when I was doing a crossword puzzle from July 5
(which came in a stack of Wednesday newspaper food sections saved for me by
Aunt Pippy) and discovered our own Ron Perlman for 35 across. it appeared
in the News Tribune newspaper here in Jersey. Like I said...tiny...but at
least Ron is NOT forgotten.
Khadi :-)"
No, Ron is not forgotten.and tends to turn up in the most unexpected
places.and faces. I still shudder to think of him as a (perhaps) tattooed
vampire warrior, in the upcoming Bloodsport..
Thanks, Khadi!
