I'm grateful for the reply Helper Chandler sent in response to my enquiry,
last week, about land addresses to request, and return, con information and
registrations for next summer's convention in New York. Per Chandler, one
sends direct to:

Aurea Andino
Once Upon A Time in NYC, Inc
230 W 99th Street, Suite 7N
New York, NY 10025

If someone is in phone or other convenient communication with Gwen Lord,
will they please convey this information to her? (Hint, hint, Pat Paone!).
It seems rather paradoxical to post it on my website (since anyone who goes
there presumably would also have access to the con's official website), but
I WILL put it there in case someone knows a person who, like Gwen, needs
this information. Thanks, Chandler!

Since many Helpers have recently contributed news, and names, of Ron
Perlman's upcoming projects, here's another to add to the list, that I
noticed on the SciFi Wire website last week:

From the Sci-Fi wire, 12/28/00

The Dark Horizons Web site reported rumors that Ron Perlman, Leonor Varela
and Luke Goss have been cast as members of the "blood pack" in the upcoming
Blade: Bloodhunt movie. The site also reported that Irish singer Samantha
Mumba may have landed a role as the pure-blood vampire Nyssa and that
Steven Berkoff is up for the role of vampire overlord Eli Damaskinos.
__________
Winner. Ron as part of a "blood pack," whatever that may be. Maybe he'll
get to wear fangs (again). And probably he'll be put out of action about
2/3 of the way through, if past experience is anything to go by. However,
any work is better than no work, as all working actors (Ron among them)
will immediately testify.

Thanks to Helper Jackie, here's further info on this item. Jackie says,

Thought you would be interested in this. My son found it on this comics
website: www.comicscontinuum.com

MARVEL MOVIE/TV UPDATE: BLADE CASTING
Ron Perlman and Luke Goss have been cast in the Blade 2: Bloodhunt movie,
sources told The Continuum on Wednesday night. (12/20).

It is unclear exactly which roles they will play, but they are likely part
of the Bloodpack of vampires that Blade teams with in the film, which is
scheduled to go before the cameras in February in Prague under the
direction of Guillermo del Toro.

Perlman, 50, is a genre veteran, most recently as the voice of Professor
Tucker in Titan A.E. Among his other recent films are Alien Resurrection,
Island of Dr. Moreau and Cronos.

Perlman has also been a favorite choice of Mike Mignola for the Hellboy
movie, with which del Toro has been connected. He is perhaps best known for
the television series Beauty and the Beast.

Perlman's other animation voices include Wizard in Fantastic Four, the Hulk
in Iron Man and Clayface in Batman.

Goss' credits include Love Life, Nine Tenths, The Stretch and Two Days,
Nine Lives. He is also involved with another Wesley Snipes/David Goyer
movie, Zig Zag, which is the directorial debut of Blade writer Goyer.

Goss, 27, is also known as being part of the British pop duo Bros. He has
completed two world tours and has 13 hit singles. Another possibility -
although as yet unconfirmed - for the Blade sequel is Leonor Varela, who
starred in ABC's Cleopatra mini-series and The Man in Iron Mask.

Thanks, Jackie! And I find the involvement of del Toro interesting,
inasmuch as he chose Ron for Cronos and evidently is a bit of a fan of our
Ron, don'tcha think?

Helper Eric Tullis, of Songs of the Bluebird fame, also noticed that Jay
Acovone appears as the pilot of the ill-fated flight of Tom Hanks' new
movie, Cast Away. Eric says,

I'm confident that this news was already distributed in a pre-release
fashion, but I did notice that Jay Acovone has a few seconds of screen time
as "Pilot Peter," one of the crew of the doomed FedEx plane in Tom Hanks'
new movie, "Cast Away".

Jen and I made two attempts to see this movie yesterday. Our first attempt
ended after about 50 minutes when some sort of water pipe broke at the
theater, prompting an evacuation. During attempt #2 (at a different
theater), Jen's eagle eyes caught Jay there in the cockpit of the plane.
_____
Sounds as if your experience with water was almost as exciting as Tom
Hanks', Eric! Thanks for the heads up, which Helper Khadi had already
provided.but it's still important to have all those sharp eyes out there,
watching for OUR PEOPLE!

I don't often reprint the Father's Fan Fare notices, figuring that those
who are interested will post Founder/Manager Sally Newman directly.
However, this is one exception, so that you can know about some of the good
work the fandom, through Sally and her Helpers, is doing.

Sally says,

Please add Margaret Bell to your list.  She had her first drip of chemo
yesterday for inoperable lung cancer, having been diagnosed about two weeks
ago.  The treatment has left her understandably tired and I'm sure stressed
to the max.  Please get her a note if you can.

Margaret Bell
499 N. 43 Highway
Liberal, Missouri 64762

I also got a note from a dear lady you all helped before, a portion of
which I'm including here with permission...

"I can personally vouch for what the mail box does when you're going
through treatment for cancer!!!!!  You girls brought me through it: --- and
I sincerely mean that!!  You have no idea what you did for Tuck Richards;
-- one of us who didn't win the battle; as you know.  Lenore Bezinque,
Claudine Gasch, and I did make it; and thanks to you gals it was easier!!!"

It's nice to know that the help you all are giving makes a difference.
Thanks so much for everything.  I hope we can continue and even get better.

None of this would be possible without your care and effort.  Hope everyone
has the best New Year ever.  You all deserve the best of everything.  I
love you.

Health & happiness,
Sally

If you'd like to know more about Father's Fan Fare and its cheerful
support, encouragement, and all-around handholding of ailing or distressed
members of our fandom, post Sally at M300TDT@aol.com. Now that postage
rates are going up again, I'm told, a gift of stamps might be a good way to
express your support of this longstanding and splendid fan outreach..
(hint, hint).

Helper Oz Fonteccio taught me something I hadn't realized: that even when
interviews or other articles disappear from the Sci-Fi Weekly site, they
can STILL be accessed if you have the URL. Oz said, "Wanted to pass on to
you word of a lengthy and fun interview with George R.R. Martin, talking
about his latest project, the fantasy saga "A Song of Ice and Fire" in
connection with the release of the latest installment, "A Song of Swords."
at http://www.scifiweekly.com/issue190/interview.html."

I went there and captured the article, together with a picture of George. I
won't burden your poor e-mailboxes with it, but I'll put it with the update
on the website this week, so you can read it there or read it at the Sci-Fi
Weekly site, just as you choose. I'm glad to know it's still there! Thanks,
Oz, for teaching me this!
