Hope you've all had a warm and memorable holiday, one worthy of the Tunnels.

First of all, a timely redirection of the official URL for the 2001
convention in New York City:
____________
Hi folks,

While Runtime Chaos catches up with some system upgrades and fixes, 2001
Convention Information and Registration pages can be found at the following
addresses:

https://chaos.rtchaos.com/convention/con2001.html  for info

which has a link to https://chaos.rtchaos.com/convention/register.html  to
register

The registration page can be accessed directly if you know the events in
which you want to participate.

Please note that you will be conversing with the Secure Server (note the
https as opposed to http in the URL), and you will get messages warning you
of our security licenses, etc. The Secure Server uses 128 bit encryption
and it may fuss at you if you haven't upgraded your web server, IE or
Netscape, recently.

May you have the best and safest of Holidays!

Thanks,
Aurea Andino
Once Upon A Time In NYC: A Homecoming
________
Nan again. I've added this information to the link on the Helpers' Network
"front page," so if you've been having trouble getting to the official con
site, this may help. Given what Aurea says about the 128 bit encryption,
though, it may only lead you to a door through which you'll espy a whole
NEW raft of computer glitches and difficulties.. Anyway, you'll be in the
right place to do so, and upgrading your web browser isn't all that hard
and costs nothing but the time to download and install it.

I've had a rather plaintive inquiry, by fax, from Gwen Lord about the land
address for registering for the con, and this is certainly pertinent
information fans would like to have. I'll visit the official website
(assuming my browser is up to it) and see if that information is there, to
relay to Gwen; if it isn't, would Aurea or some member of the ConCom please
enlighten me on this subject--on how to request and get convention
information and registration materials through the mail or by fax for those
without internet access--so that I can pass that along?

I mentioned a few months back that my Internet Service Provider, Fuse, had
stopped letting me see my site's official "counter," to know how many total
hits the website had had over its lifetime, as opposed to the hits to the
"front page" alone. Well, that access is back.but only registered hits
since last October, heaven knoweth why. I've added the current total to the
best I remember of the former total, in September, and figure it's roughly
200,000 at this point. (For anyone curious about such things, there were
27,157 hits since October 1st.) Anyway, I'll call it a round 200,000 to
about the end of 2000 and keep the count weekly hereafter, as I formerly
did. I think it's nice to know there are still so many of us around,
worldwide, still interested in matters B&B-ish, which is what the total
site count reflects.and why I bother to report it at all.

Some interesting items in from Helper/Correspondent Darlene Sullivan:

From The Hollywood Reporter - Beah Richards ("Narcissa" in B&B), who passed
away recently, is one of the Image Award nominees for Best Supporting
Actress in a Drama Series - "The Practice" (ABC). The 32nd NAACP Image
Awards will be presented March 3 at the Universal Amphitheatre and
broadcast March 9 on Fox. The awards celebrate those who "strive for the
portrayal of positive images and meaningful opportunities for
African-Americans in the entertainment industry."
________
Ron Perlman has a new movie to begin shooting in Los Angeles in January,
2001. "Quiet Kill" (Drama), cast Corbin Berensen, Ron Perlman, Dick Van
Patten, James Van Patten and Nicholas Celozzi. No plot line was given.

Ellen Geer ("Mary" in B&B) will begin filming "The Assistant" (Drama), in
Los Angeles, in February, 2001. The cast list is David Ogden Stiers, Steven
Williams, Ellen Geer. No plot line was given.
___________

Thanks, Darlene!

Pat adds (I can't resist backpats, however undeserved): "Thank you for
another year of weekly updates. They are very much appreciated."

You're welcome, even though the thanks are due instead to Pat and the other
Helpers who provide the bulk of the news that I pass along.

Helper Khadi mentions spotting Ron Perlman in Price of Glory with Jimmy
Smits. Khadi says, "The movie itself is great...but Ron looks fabulous in
it," calling to our attention that this film has just come out on video,
that can be rented.

Thanks for the reminder, Khadi!

For a case of déjà vu all over again, I pass along this idea from the
ever-hopeful Kay regarding the prospects of encouraging the placement of
canceled Madigan Man (with Roy Dotrice) on some other network. I'm afraid I
myself have a bad case of "been there; done that; bought the T-shirt and
have the scars to prove it," but that shouldn't deter the more energetic
and/or hopeful among us from fighting on.

Kay says,

This may seem a bit ridiculous to some, but for those willing to take a
leap of faith and give it one last shot, here is an idea to try and save
Madigan Men.

According to one of the articles that SonjaMarie kindly posted, ATG is
Michael Ovitz' "fledgling" group. Out of four television shows they have
launched only "Grosse Point" on WB and "Cursed" (renamed "Webber") on NBC
remain. I doubt this company would like to have their first attempts at
launching television series turn out to be dismal failures.

Gabriel Byrne is the biggest name they have on their roster. I'm sure we
all agree MM deserves a better chance than it had. For god sakes none of
the cast members were even guests on Regis/Rosie - both ABC programs. It
was almost doomed to fail!

Since they must have invested a considerable sum of money already perhaps
ATG would try and sell MM to another network, i.e., WB, Fox, Lifetime, etc.
There are probably at least 9-12 episodes already taped and ready to be
broadcast, or rebroadcast.

I found out through a source that ATG is connected with Artists Management
Group. AMG has several different divisions all under the same heading. ATG
can be accessed via AMG through the information listed below.

All everyone has to do is recycle their letters to ABC and mail or fax them
off to ATG. Please spread the news to other groups, message boards, etc.
Y'all know the drill by now!
