We are told that the those in the community Below celebrate all the
holidays of the world Above, in addition to their own special ones, like
Winterfest. So I believe that we can assume that Thanksgiving Below is at
least as joyous as any we might contrive Above, with their gratitude for
another year safely passed, for the benevolence and generosity of the
helpers who would have contributed to the feast. I'm sure that many will
join me in a silent gratitude, on the coming day of Thanksgiving, for both
the values and the wondrous and continuing miracle of the series that
exemplified and embodied them that came upon us all so unexpectedly so many
years ago.still alive in our hearts and our imaginations.

As relayed by Helper Marina Broers, here's Gwen's take on the response
she's gotten so far on her "pledge drive" (my term).

16 November 2000

Dear Friends,

I'm deeply touched, to have by a large, such an upsurge of support, to have
a movie, if it is at all possible. This support is coming in to me by snail
mail at HNUK, and via various kind fans who send me hard copy sheets,
bearing letters of support and concern off the internet.

Let me say once and for all : I would NEVER embark on anything illegal!! It
has to be with all the right people in all the right places, saying all the
right things.

If the mail my idea has generated keeps up, we may be ready to go up the
ladder one rung. My next mission, almost a 'mission impossible', excuse the
pun, is to contact Ron Koslow. Does anybody  anywhere know where he is, as
he seems to have vanished without trace. I used to be in regular mail with
him in 1991, 1992 and 1993 and treasure his letters, and I have met him
twice. But for many years now he has truly gone to ground. But I have
'Helpers' trying to locate him, and when found, I intend to tell him of my
idea, your support and responses and seek his advice and direction to take,
if any! There IS no other way.

If I was Koslow, that is what I'd want from this, and nothing short of that
will do. If Koslow is impressed, after a decade, with us all, then maybe we
can rekindle in him something that only dreams are made of.

So please, keep your support coming in! And I will do my very best, to
represent us all, to have this idea become a reality. There's been nothing
happening for so long, I felt we had to awaken in those who hold power
here, that we are still here, still waiting, and we will only go forward
when we get green for go officially, and in true BATB fashion, we will give
it our all.

Please send your snail mail letters to :

Gwen Lord

Or

Send your emails to Marina Broers, she will then forward it to me.

Thank you,
Gwen Lord.

I'll add (Nan) that the last I knew, Ron Koslow had only the first right of
refusal for any plan to make a script for a B&B movie. That plan would have
to come from Viacom-which is, as I understand it, the ultimate owner of the
rights to B&B now. Ron Koslow could not initiate a script, or a movie, on
his own, even were there financing. He does not own the characters or the
storyline. Republic's inheritors do. He only gets the first chance to write
a script if others decide that a script should be written.

It's a complex matter, as I've said before. You may recall I pontificated
on this subject a bit, a few months back.. But I don't believe Koslow is
the key. I'll gladly stand corrected if one more knowledgeable (Knock
knock-you there, Darlene?) has better, more accurate information. And as I
said last week, I believe there can be no harm, and possibly some good, in
amassing what amount to pledges, that then could be waved at some
appropriate personage. I just don't think that personage is Ron Koslow.

Even Lee Holdridge (approximately in the same position as Koslow in terms
of the music he wrote for the show) expressed frustration last year about
determining who actually owned the rights to the "Of Love and Hope"
recording he wanted to reissue. Far as I know, he still hasn't. So do me
the favor, Marina, of conveying the above to Gwen, to save her some
frustration and effort in trying to locate what I believe to be the wrong
target.

Per Helper Tom Witt:

In your most recent Helper's Hotline, you mentioned that A&E's Biography
magazine had a "Where are they now?" article about Linda Hamilton. If you
go the Linda Hamilton Online Website, click on the Archives  section and
then hit Articles and Interviews, you will find the text of that article.
In that same section, there is another article where Linda discusses her
decision not to appear in Terminator 3, as well as an interview with the
director of Skeletons in the Closet, the film that Linda just finished making.

Thanks, Tom.

I have sad news to relay originating with Linda Moore (of Band of Angels
fame):

Philip Smith's father died early this morning after being quite ill for
some time. K. G. Freeman says that Philip and his mother are doing as well
as can be expected. Funeral plans are not yet finalized; I'll pass those
along when I get them. In the meantime, you can reach the Smiths [Phil and
Julie] by e-mail at jasscully@aol.com.
Or you can mail them at 3171-A S. 129th East Ave., Suite 136, Tulsa, OK
74134-3215.

Blessings,

Linda

A correspondent whose handle is "AuntEllen" mentions that one of Linda
Hamilton's recent projects, "Rescuers:  Stories of Courage, Two Couples
aired on Monday, November 13 at 9:00 p.m. (EST) and again on Tuesday, Nov.
14 at 12 midnight on the Odyssey channel. Dana Delaney is in the first
story and Linda Hamilton is in the second.

If Odyssey holds true to form, this episode should air again fairly soon."

Nan again. If you care to check the Odyssey website for their upcoming
offerings, it's at http://www.odysseyonline.com/. So far, the TV Guide
carries listings of only their evening/prime time shows, so their website
is the best place to determine what shows they're airing when in other
times during the day and latenight.

Occasional contributor (and fine photographer) Albert Ortega reminds us
that "Linda Hamilton is in a play entitled 'Laura,' a haunting romantic
mystery playing at The Tiffany Theater in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd
near La Cienega. It Opened on November 10; it plays Thursday-Sat 8PM & Sun
at 2PM. For more information call (310) 289-2999"

Always glad to get news from you, Al!

Per Helper/Correspondent Judy Adams, this heads-up about an airing of the
"original" Magnificent 7 movie starring (among others) Yul Brynner and
Steve McQueen (which was, in turn, a Western take on Akira Kurasawa's
incomparable The Seven Samurai):

Mag7 movie, 1960, on TCM 11:30AM Central, Sat Nov 25

Thanks, Judy.

Says fan Tallulah, "Rick Baker - 'creator' of Ron Perlman's Vincent makeup
- created the makeup for the Grinch in the new Jim Carrey movie "How the
Grinch Stole Christmas"! (Actually, the Grinch's makeup is the BEST part of
the movie.) Rick also created characters/makeup for "Men In Black," "Star
Wars" (the cantina scene), "Gorillas in the Mist," "Greystoke: The Legend
of Tarzan," "Starman," etc.

Of course, none of his other creations rivals Vincent for beauty
and...magnetism, right???"

No argument here, Tallulah!

The Sightings for this week were sent out and posted on the website last
Monday, so I'll assume you all can check them if and as you wish, during
other holiday festivities.

If it's news and has to do with Beauty and the Beast, please think of the
Hotline and relay. We're all in this together, keeping the dream of Beauty
and the Beast alive however we can. Beast wishes, be well, and goodbye.
