NAN DIBBLE'S HOTLINE UPDATE -
11th June 2000

This is the news for June 11 from Nan Dibble and Helpers' Network Hotline
for fans of Beauty and the Beast. To contact me by e-mail, post to
ndibble@fuse.net. To stop (or to begin) receiving updates as e-mail, notify
me at the above e-mail address. To reach me by phone (evenings/weekends),
call (513) 961-4813.The website is at http://home.fuse.net/helpnet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Something rather disquieting has just happened. I sent on the interview
with Roy Dotrice from the Playbill On-Line website, and the post was
refused by several e-mail systems because the return
address--ndibble@fuse.net--wasn't among those the recipients had authorized
their systems to receive mail from. One of them was Sue Haley, a friend of
some ten years' standing! I'm used to a variety of "bounce notices"-people
whose e-mailboxes are full, or are no longer at the edress they originally
gave me, or are on juno, which cannot accommodate posts over a certain
size. But this is a new problem to me. Assuming you all wish to continue to
get the updates (you have only to ask to have them discontinued), please be
sure that if you have a system in which only posts from certain return
addresses are accepted, you add ndibble@fuse.net to those which are
authorized. Otherwise, they'll bounce. And after three bounces, I remove a
recipient from the list and wait for them to advise me of a new edress (or
whatever) before I begin sending them again. Always some new wrinkle (sigh).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And a shamefaced update on the Of Love and Hope tapes and reprinted books,
"Bright Spirit Descending" and "Beyond Words, Beyond Silence": I'm not so
swift as I thought I'd be. If you sent an order but haven't yet received
what you asked for, please bear with me. A sinus infection, plus utter
insanity at work, has slowed me down even beyond my usual lethargic crawl.
I'll try to get more brisk this week and get some more orders out, but I
ask that you be patient a little longer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the "sending good wishes" department, please include
Helper/Correspondent Darlene Sullivan in your thoughts for the next week or
so. She's having back surgery in an attempt to deal with the aftermath of a
car accident over a year ago. She's asked that no posts be sent her until
she's recovered enough to deal with them. So thinking hopeful thoughts
can't hurt! And Sally Newman, of Father's Fan Fare, says that Molly Toms, a
dear lady, is having difficult times for reasons unspecified. If you'd care
to send Molly an encouraging word or two, her land address is:
JoAnn Baca has this announcement:
Announcing the imminent publication of a new zine: "The First Time I Loved
Forever." This anthology zine will focus entirely on the erotic/sensual
implications of Vincent and Catherine's "first time" - with stories
contributed by such writers as Teri P., Trisha Kehoe, Barb Hill, Pat King,
Cathy Moran and yours truly; poetry by, among others, Janice Keenan and
Angelique; and artwork by Sandy (Chan) Shelton, Sandy Tew, Lynn Wright,
Terrie Milliman and Pam Tuck, among others (NOTE: All these folks have made
a commitment to submit stories or artwork for this zine; however, the list
of contributors will not been finalized until all submissions are received).
All profits after printing costs (which we will make every effort to keep
low) will go to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance.
We expect to publish "First Time" by Christmas 2000. However, we are now
taking pre-orders for the zine. From now until November 1, those
pre-ordering will save $2 off the $25 price of the zine. Please add $3.20
for orders shipped inside the U.S. or to Canada and $10 for zines to be
shipped to Europe. Therefore, from now until November 1, U.S. orders will
cost $26.20 and non-U.S. orders will cost U.S.$33.
As you can probably guess, this will be a seriously adult zine, folks
(there was no rating limit imposed on writers or artists), so age
statements will be required on mail orders. (I've already seen some of the
art and read a few of the stories, and frankly, I don't know if ANY of us
is old enough to read this zine!) To reserve your copy of "First Time,"
please send the appropriate amount of funds plus age statement to:
NOTE: For those attending the LA2K con (A Distant Shore II: Remember Love)
in July, you can stop by the dealers' room to fill out a pre-order form and
make payment - just look for Cathy Moran, Pat King, Sandy Tew or me at our
table. For more information, please send inquiries to joannb7@yahoo.com
From Helper/Correspondent Stephanie Wiltse, more detail about the Tony
awards, last Sunday. Steff says,
"Roy says that his daughter Karen and his (especially proud) grandson,
Garrick, were there too. The newspapers last week made it sound as if he
might not get the award and I was so nervous the night before I couldn't
sleep. The night after I was so happy and excited for him I still couldn't
sleep. But I put the non-somnolence to use and put up a web 'postcard' of
the occasion (complete with quicktime movie) for Roy to 'send' to friends.
Here 'tis for another news bit:
Roy Dotrice at the Tony Awards
http://www.cinemind.com/dotrice/tony.html
There is a full-scale website for Roy out there (that I haven't been able
to locate) that someone named Anya is doing... he's given her my e-mail
address ...so hopefully I can pass along another site addy of interest for
you (and your readership) in the near future."
Thanks, Steff!
