Here's some news from Helper/Correspondent Darlene Sullivan:
The Shooting Gallery website mentions that in 1981, Ron Perlman was
nominated for the Canadian Academy Award for his performance in "Quest for
Fire."
Delroy Lindo (Isaac Stubbs, Catherine's self defense trainer in "No Way
Down") has added more luster to his increasing stature as a major film
actor. He has a major hit movie now playing, "The Cider House Rules,"
which
has been nominated for seven Academy Awards - Best Picture, Best Director,
Best Supporting Actor (Michael Caine), Best Original Score, Best Adapted
Screen Play, Best Film Editing and Best Art Direction. Many other
professional groups have nominated the picture for top awards. The Chicago
Tribune enthused "Delroy Lindo gives a performance of shattering power. He
is consistently brilliant." Congratulations, Mr. Lindo.
Thanks, Darlene.

Linda Hamilton in animated series.as a villain!
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command' TV Series Rocketing To Disney's One
Saturday Morning' and 'Disney's One Too' for 2000-2001 Slate
Star of 'Toy Story' Films Heads New Intergalactic Adventures
From Walt Disney Television Animation; Series Slated For Seven Days a Week
on ABC, UPN and in Syndication
BURBANK, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "Toy Story" superhero Buzz
Lightyear will rocket onto television screens seven days a week for the
2000-2001 season -- within both the "Disney's One Saturday Morning"
lineup
on ABC and the "Disney's One Too" slate on UPN and in syndication --
with
his own traditionally-animated, action-comedy series, "Disney/Pixar's Buzz
Lightyear of Star Command," it was announced today by Jonathan Barzilay,
senior vice president and general manager, ABC Children's Programming,
Janice Marinelli, president, Buena Vista Television (BVT) and Barry
Blumberg, executive vice president, Walt Disney Television Animation.
"We are proud to welcome this entertaining new series to our line-up. The
tremendous popularity of the 'Toy Story' films has made Buzz Lightyear an
evergreen character, and now kids will be able to enjoy his adventures week
after week," Barzilay said, adding the series would be featured within
ABC's five-hour schedule of Saturday morning children's programming.
"The success of the 'Toy Story' movies and the fanbase surrounding the
characters made Buzz Lightyear an obvious choice as the heroic lead for a
comedy-adventure television series," Marinelli said of the show, which will
air Sunday through Friday within the two-hour UPN/syndicated block.
Whereas the film "Toy Story" introduced the Buzz Lightyear character
as an
action figure come to life (courtesy of computer-generated images), "Buzz
Lightyear of Star Command" presents the traditionally-animated television
series upon which the toy was based. "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command"
will
focus on the adventures of the title character as he patrols the galaxy
with his team of Space Rangers, battling evildoers from Earth "to infinity
... and beyond."
"This show's unique treatment of Buzz Lightyear's back-story opens an
infinite door for the Space Ranger's intergalactic adventures," Blumberg
said. "We've got a top creative team in Tad Stones, Bob Schooley and Mark
McCorkle, who have gone to the edges of the animated universe to produce a
wildly imaginative series."
Stones, Schooley and McCorkle are executive producers of the series. The
trio previously teamed to create Disney's "Hercules" and
"Aladdin"
television series, and both "Aladdin" Disney Video Premiere movies
"The
Return of Jafar" (1994) and "Aladdin and the King of Thieves"
('95).
The series features an outstanding voice cast, led by "Seinfeld"
veterans
Patrick Warburton and Wayne Knight as the do-gooder Buzz and his arch
nemesis, the Evil Emperor Zurg, respectively. The central cast of Space
Rangers includes Nicole Sullivan ("Mad TV"), Adam Corolla (Comedy
Central's
"The Man Show," MTV's "Love Line"), Stephen Furst
("Animal House") and
actor/comedian Larry Miller ("The Nutty Professor"). The series
features
several recurring villains portrayed by the voices of French Stewart ("3rd
Rock from the Sun"), Linda Hamilton ("Terminator") and "The
Drew Carey
Show" stars Diedrich Bader and Craig Ferguson. Nearly 100 actors of stage
and screen fill out an amusing roster of guest stars.
The "Disney's One Too" syndicated lineup features two hours of
Disney-branded animated programming, six days a week, Sundays through
Fridays on UPN and in syndication. "Disney's One Too," interspersed
with
imaginative interstitial elements, debuted in Fall 1999.
"Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" is a production of Walt Disney
Television
Animation. Tad Stones, Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle are Executive
Producers.
