Thanks "JAB" for the following link to the Amazon.com web site for Beauty & The Beast TV Series - put your email address down for information if and when the DVDs become available. My guess is that once the distributors get enough email addresses, they'll release the DVDs based on the volume of interest. That's only speculation, though. So pass on the word, and show your support.

From: Gwen Lord & Roy Dotrice
It was with heavy hearts, we learned on Dec 13. 2003, of the untimely death of Albert Prince. Our hearts go out to his family and those close to him. it was only after his lovely wife Sue died suddenly, a few years ago, that I persuaded Albert and his young daughter, Ginette, to come to a B & B convention in the hope the love they would find there would help them to embrace their loss. Sue had been a keen and loyal member of the Helpers Network, and wrote many poems for us. Albert and Ginette became regulars after that, at every convention in the UK, and did indeed find an extended family in the Beauty and the Beast fandom. His passing will leave a gap in the fandom like no other.

Further news from Caroline...
Although the storyline is the fairytale version, the love story between Vincent and Belle is especially emotive in dance and I was quite taken aback when I saw the first rehearsal of Vincent in costume.

NEW BEAUTY AND THE BEAST SERIES ON THE CARDS
From the Hollywood Reporter by Nellie Andreeva :-
In other UPN remake news, the network is developing an updated version of the 1987 CBS fantasy drama, Beauty and the Beast, which starred Linda Hamilton.
Ron Koslow, Tony Thomas, and Paul Junger Witt, executive producers of the original series, are attached to the new project, which has received a premium script commitment from the network. Paramount Network Television is producing.
- Message added 22nd November 2001
Message from Gwen regarding this news...
Rumors have been circulating that the two Ron's (Perlman & Koslow), have sold a spin off of Beauty and the Beast to Paramount, for their station UPN.
It is vital to point out, that the strong fan following of this series will want the characters of FATHER& CATHERINE to be included. To this end, it would be nice if our dear friends, the fans could write, fax or email Paramount and ask for verification on this report, which has come from a very reliable source.
I have been speaking with Roy about this, who has heard nothing. Roy was with Ron Perlman a few weeks ago, and at that time, they had no knowledge of this project. So, come on, get writing, emailing and faxing.
Thank you,
Gwen Lord

Insider News from Eve Mandler...
I have the following from someone who asked not to be identified, but who I will say can usually be considered a very reliable source. In other words, not generally a rumor-monger, and someone who does have ways of finding things out!
Now, I've also got some B&B info for you. I assume you read the posts about the mention in the Hollywood Reporter of the proposed B&B project from Paramount. As you may (or may not) remember, I have a friend who works at Paramount, and she works in domestic television, and she's known about this for about a year now. But we just couldn't say anything about it until it became public knowledge.
Here are the details of the project as they stand now. The idea is to do the show with Ron Perlman as Vincent (yes, he'd be in the show, and in makeup again) but an older Vincent with a teenaged son. So his role will in essence be like Father and not the younger Vincent of the original show (it was actually Ron's idea in the first place, and he came to Paramount with the concept and they've been working on it for about a year). The action would be centered around the "next generation". There would be no Catherine character, and there doesn't seem to have been any interest in the Diana character. My friend is going to whisper in a few ears about getting Roy involved, but thats up in the air, too. Also unknown if any of the other original cast members would be invited to participate.
So basically what they've got is like a spinoff of the original show, not really a continuation. Beauty and the Beast The Next Generation.
Also you might want to point out that there's every chance nothing will ever happen, it's still a very tentative idea, and things move awfully slowly in Hollywood. And no, there's no one and no company the fans can write to as yet to show their interest in the project.
So there you have it, for what it's worth.

British Fan Club re-launches web site
I received a communication from Amber James of the Beauty & The Beast British Fan Club, who has launched a number of exciting new additions to the web site, and changed its location to http://www.beautyandthebeastfanclub.net - Gwen Lord of HNUK has already sent some Auction information, and we will have a small 'chamber' link from the site. Here's the information that Amber kindly sent to me:-
Cyber Tunnel World
The Beauty And The Beast British Fan Club are offering a brand new service to Fandom. We are offering FREE web space for home pages, with no adverts or pop up banners, housed under our own domain name. We are also offering FREE Chat Room, FREE e-cards/postcards, to send to your B&B friends, FREE Downloads and much more. We want to offer a complete networking service to B&B fans everywhere, under one roof - To develop a community, like the Tunnel World, in cyberspace.
Interested? Then read on....... We have purchased the domain name:
http://www.beautyandthebeastfanclub.net
Phase One of our site development will provide FREE web space to build ‘Home Chambers’ to house your web pages. You will be able to design/ manage your chamber, or we can do it for you. There is a FREE chat room, where B&B fans can meet, chat and exchange ideas, these facilities are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We are planning a weekly ‘chat meeting’ to enable a get together on a regular basis, but you will be free to use the facility any other time, without restrictions. We have a B&B Auction Site for the sale of both B&B and non B&B items, at NO cost to either buyer or seller, also a Forum which will give the opportunity for discussion and news items. There will be FREE downloads of wallpapers for your desktop, FREE graphics and other ‘goodies’. You will also be able to send B&B e-cards/postcards to your friends and family members to celebrate special occasions, or just to let them know you are thinking about them. You will be able to personalise the cards and include your own message. Again these E-cards will be a FREE service. Phase one is planned to be operational for 1st September 2001, however it is up and running now and you can go take a look in advance.
Phase Two - details will be announced later in the site’s development, when we have had time to consult on what other facilities you might be interested in seeing available at the site.
So what’s the catch?
There isn’t one. It’s as simple as that. The service will be available FREE to all Members of the Beauty And The Beast British Fan Club. Although the fan club was started for UK Fandom, we have members from other countries, it has spread its wings world-wide. If you are not a member then we will not be able to offer any of the new net based services to you, without a small yearly charge. So why not consider joining us and taking advantage of the new developments? We already produce a quality Fan Club Magazine which is sent out 3 times a year to all members. It contains artwork, stories, poetry, letters and information related to the program and cast members. The new net based services will be an ‘added extra’, FREE service for our members. The magazine can also be sent out as an E-zine via your Email account at a reduced rate. In order to have an E-zine subscription you must have ‘Word 97 or higher (E-zine subscriptions will count as full membership and will include the new web based services).
A year membership, is £8.50 UK, £10.00 Europe and $22 for USA and others. E-zine subscriptions are £4 ($6).
Cheques and postal orders should be made out to: B&B Fan Club (Dollars can only be accepted in cash or as Western Union Money Orders made out to S Brookfield). If you would like to join The Beauty And The Beast British Fan Club, send your membership fee to:
Sylvia Brookfield
14 Wincham Road, Sale, Cheshire, M33 4PL, United Kingdom
Please remember to include a self addressed, stamped envelope if you wish a receipt.
If you do not wish to join the fan club but would like to register an interest in the proposed net based services or have questions to ask regarding them, please Email AmberJames@btinternet.com
It is now blatantly obvious that the Internet is the way we will all communicate in the years ahead, it is the future, and we must embrace it and use it to our advantage. As time has passed the number of active fans has reduced, it is important that we have a strong presence on the Internet. This new venture is designed to do just that. A strong, solid and united fan base, will give us a little more ‘clout’ with ‘the powers that be’ when it comes to getting our favourite series back on our screens again. It is for this reason we are venturing forth, and we ask you to take the journey with us.
