Roy Dotrice plays in Broadway play, "A Moon For The Misbegotten"
Roy dotrice, the British Actor, Veteran of over 80 stage plays since 1958, and 33 big scren cinema films, as well as 44 for television in the USA and UK, comprising series and films. He has also done much on the radio for the BBC and audio he is no stranger to, with voices for Disney as well as Shakespeare.
His amazing career has spanned 50 years, with his exceptional skills he bring to each new project.
The latest is a play by Eugene O'Neill, "A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN", which opened on January 14th previews, and 1st night opening January 24th, at the Goodman Theatre. 200 South Columbus Drive, Chicago IL 60603-604. Phone: 001 312 443 3822.
The play has got good reviews and the performances are playing to packed houses.
Gabriel Byrne plays James Tyrone Jr, and Cherry Jones plays Josie Hogan.
Roy Dotrice is Josie's father HOGAN. THe play will run until February 19th. Then it moves to the bright lights of Broadway, opening on March 22nd at the Walter Kerr Theatre on 48th Street, New York, where it will start its long run.
This is a welcome and rare chance to see Roy acting on stage. He would be very pleased to see any of his fans who want to see the play, in the audience enjoying this lively play, and a chance to say hello afterwards.
Roy has 3 daughters, Michele, who is married to actor Edward Woodward. Michele is a seasoned actress of a rare quality like her father, with endless work to her credit.
Karen, the middle daughter was in 39 steps (the film), Joseph Andrews, Gnome Mobile, Three Lives of Thomasina, and of course the little girl in Mary Poppins.
Yvette has acted in years gone by, but now acts out the role of mother to 3 children each day.
Roy and his wife Kay now have seven grand children, the delight of their lives, and they celebrate 53 years of marriage this May.
Roy is a keen sports man, enjoyiung cricket, baseball and fishing. He also is an accomplished artist with the canvas and oils, and his art covers many walls in many Dotrice family homes.

ROY DOTRICE (Members of Actors' Equity) (Phil Hogan) has appeared in ten Broadway productions, including three one-man shows: Brief Lives at the golden theatre in 1968, Mister Lincoln at the Morosco Theatre in 1980, and brief Lives at the Booth Theatre in 1974. For nine years he played leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company in England and has appeared in over twenty productions in London's West End. Apart from occasional trips to New York to appear on stage, Mr. Dotrice has been working exclusively out of Los Angleles since 1981. He appeared as a regular in four television series: "Beauty and the Beast", "Going To Extremes", "Picket Fences", and "Mr. and Mrs Smith," in addition to playing guest star roles in dozens of television productions. Some of his latest films include The Scarlet Letter, The Cutting Edge, Swimming with Sharks, and Children of the Dark. This is his first visit to Chicago, although he performed his one-man show Brief Lives on three separate occasions at the Arlington Park Theatre.
