Welcome to the download page for Turbo C++ Lite edition.

Due to the general unavailability of Turbo C++, I have created an easy-to-install version that should work satisfactorily on most PCs.

Also included with the download are a number of old magazine tutorials in PDF format, as well as a number of code examples, from these tutorials and also from the first session of the C course.

To download Turbo C++ Lite for DOS, simply click on the link below, and choose to save the file at a location of your choice, or alternatively to run it directly.

If you chose to save it, you will need to locate the file using something like Windows Explorer, and double-click on the file to start the installation process.

Installation

The WinZip Self-Extractor will run, and then automatically start the InstallShield installation.

When asked for a program folder, choose the default and click on the Next> button.

Installation will commence. The files as default will be copied to the c:\tclite directory, and icons will be created.

Finally, a Setup Completed dialog box will be displayed, from which you can tick a combination of two options to view readme information, and/or launch Turbo C Lite.

Click on Finish to complete the installation process.

You may be left with an icon at the bottom of the screen saying that WinZip Self-Extractor is still running. This is OK. Leave this alone, and it will disappear and remove any temporary setup files with it within a few minutes.

Turbo C Lite may well appear in a window, in which case the writing is quite small. Note that you can use the mouse pointer within the window if you wish to use the window like this. Alternatively, double click on the title bar at the top of the window to enlarge it to the width of the screen. Alternatively, the Alt+Enter key combination will toggle you between full DOS screen mode and Windowed DOS screen mode.

In Future, you will be able to launch Turbo Pascal by clicking on the Start Button on the Windows Desktop, click on the Programs> menu, clicking on the Turbo C++ Lite submenu, and clicking on the Turbo C++ Lite icon.

Welcome to the download page for C++ Builder v1.0

This version of C++ Builder is now obsolete, although for educational purposes it is fine. You can obtain a more up-to-date version from the Borland site (http://shop.borland.co.uk) or from a shopping site such as Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk). In general, as a student you can obtain an educational version of the Professional version for about £100, the standard edition being a little less.

Installation

When asked for a program folder, choose the default and click on the Next> button. Keep on choosing the option until installation commences, unless you are confident enough to customize what you wish to be installed. Note that other tools such as the Borland Database Engine and Database Explorer will also be installed as standard.

After the application has been installed onto your system, a help window will be displayed, which needs to be closed before you can carry on and complete the installation.

You may be left with an icon at the bottom of the screen saying that WinZip Self-Extractor is still running. This is OK. Leave this alone, and it will disappear and remove any temporary setup files with it within a few minutes.
