| Open an Existing Word List |
Click on Word List menu
option
Click on Open... menu
option
Choose a Folder if required -
the lexicon folder (usually under c:\Program Files\Arctan Computer
Ventures Ltd\wordpuzzle_pro) is provided which has sample word lists given with
this product. Double-click on a folder to open it.
Note that the Files of
Type command currently shows as Word List Files. This means that only Word
List files will be listed (those that end with .lex)
Click on the file that you
wish to open, and click on the OK button. Alternatively, just double-click on the file
that you wish to open.
If you had made any changes to
your previous crossword without saving, you will be asked whether you wish to save your
changes before opening the file. Choose Yes if you do, No if you wish to
lose the changes, or Cancel if you wish to cancel from Opening the word list.
Note that
when you open or save a word list, it is added to the bottom of the Word
List menu in the Most Recently Used or MRU list). To access one of these
recently opened or saved files, just click on the menu option to
quickly open it again. You can clear this list by clicking on the Clear
option just below the list. Up to 9 recently used files can be shown
on the MRU list.

Various sample files are provided
with WordPuzzle Pro to get you on the way to producing crosswords of your own,
and also some samples to try out for yourself. The files are kept in the application's own directory, in the following
subdirectory:-
Lexicon
abridged.lex - 20,000 word word-list, with an emphasis on smaller words (for anagram
finding).
full.lex - Word list, currently with over 113,000 words and phrases.
computer_jargon.lex - 2,000 or so sized word list with various sensible and jokey computer
words and phrases.
