How to Publish Crosswords
This page gives some advice on how to prepare your crossword for submission to the editor of publications that might include your puzzle.

| Sending to Publishers | Publishers tend to have their own
standards for how work should be submitted to them. It may be worth contacting the
publisher first to check whether they accept unsolicited crosswords, and if so, what their
rules for submission are. Editors tend to prefer work to be sent flat (i.e. unfolded), but many accept the work if folded only twice to form three sections. Some editors may insist that you label each sheet with your name and address for identification. You may also be asked to produce the clues double-spaced and single-columned. If a very specific layout is required, you will probably have to copy the crossword out either via the clipboard or a HTML file, and amend it using a word-processor to make it the required format. This should be minimal effort. |
| Publishing on the Word Wide Web | The program has the facility to save your document in HTML format, which is the type of document readable by all web browsers. Thus, if you post the document onto your internet site, you will have a ready-made crossword available for everyone to use. |
| Distributable (Encrypted) Crosswords | The most flexible way to distribute crosswords created by WordPuzzle Pro is the encrypted distributable file. This can only be opened with another copy (any version) of WordPuzzle Pro. However, this gives you crossword solving facilities beyond the scope of a simple HTML document, and gives the solver the opportunity to print a high-quality version of the crossword to complete away from the computer if required. It also protects the crossword from change if the distributor so wishes, to help enforce copyright. |
