Installation and Uninstallation

  • Installation You can obtain the most recent version of WordPuzzle Pro by pointing your browser at http://www.simonhuggins.com/wppro/download/wppro.exe

    To install WordPuzzle Pro onto your computer:-

    If you are installing from Floppy Disk:-
  • Insert Floppy disk number 1 into the floppy disk drive
  • Click on the Windows Start menu in the bottom-left hand corner of the screen
  • Click on the Run... option
  • Type a:\setup in the text box and click on the OK button
  • If you are installing from a downloaded ZIP file:-
  • Double-click on the program wppro.exe that you downloaded.
  • Click on the Setup button. This extracts the setup program from the self-extracting archive (created using WinZip Self-Extractor - Click here to see the WinZip web site if you are interested).
  • Installation will commence.
    You will first see a welcome screen for WordPuzzle Pro with a copyright notice.
    Click on the Next button.
    A Software License Agreement is displayed according to whether the program is Shareware or Full.
    Click on Yes to accept this agreement, or No to deny it and cancel installation.
    If you clicked on Yes, you will see some release information about the product. Click on Next to continue.
    You can now choose a location in which to install WordPuzzle Pro. If you leave this as the default, it will be installed at c:\Program Files\Arctan Computer Ventures Ltd\WordPuzzle Pro.
    Click on Next to continue.
    You can choose from three different installation types - click on your preferred - Typical, which is a full installation, Compact which excludes help and example files, or Custom, which allows you to select what you wish to install.
    Click on the Next button. If you chose Custom, you will be able to select which parts of the system you wish to install by clicking on/off the appropriate check-boxes. Click on Next to continue.
    You will next be asked to select a folder. The default given is WordPuzzle Pro, and will be placed under the Programs section on the Start menu. Click on Next to continue.
    You are now ready to start copying file. You will be given an overview of the options you have chosen. Click on the Next button to start the installation process.
    Setup will copy the files onto your systems, set up icons for the program group, and update the registry for the help section, and also so that you can use the custom files of the program with Windows Explorer.
    Click on the Finish button to complete setup. Note that you will see the readme file (for which you will need a web browser installed), and the program will automatically launch the application with the first sample crossword, unless you untick the appropriate checkboxes.

    Uninstallation To remove The WordPuzzle Pro from your computer, follow these steps:-
  • Click on the Windows Start button in the bottom-left hand corner of the screen
  • Click on the Settings menu
  • Click on the Control Panel option
  • Double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
    This displays the Add/Remove Program Properties dialog box.
  • Find WordPuzzle Pro on the list and click on it.
  • Click on the Add/Remove... button
  • You will see a dialog box asking you Are you sure you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components? Click on Yes if you are, or No if you are not.
  • The UninstallShield program will commence, with the Remove Programs from your Computer dialog box. When it has completed, the progress bar will fill up, and all of the options will have ticks next to them. A message at the bottom saying Uninstall successfully completed will be displayed.
  • Click on the Ok button.
  • Click on the Ok button in the Add/Remove Program Properties dialog box.
  • Close the Control Panel by clicking on its close_cross.gif (872 bytes) button.
  • Note that some registry settings will remain even after uninstallation.
