Depending on the language that you are using, or the type of puzzle you wish to create, you may wish to restrict the letters that can be placed on the grid. There are three default sets of characters, or you can have your own letters, or customize the default set.

If you are constructing a puzzle where each letter refers to a particular code, you can set up what the codes are to be for each letter, or get the computer to randomly shuffle the codes.

Finally, you can set the bias for Auto-Fill for each letter - e.g. a bias of 1 gives a letter the most chance of being allowed, a bias of 0 gives a letter no chance of being used. If you are uncertain of what bias to give letters, you can choose a representative text document, and the computer can work out the probabilities according to average occurrence of different letters from this.
