Clues can also be categorized. The available categories for the puzzle appear on the left hand side, and can be quickly and easily added to.

Double-clicking on any number of these categories adds them to the clue.

If the clue is later added to a standard list of clues known as the Clue Pool, that pool can be searched using any of the Categories as criteria. This can be very useful and time-saving when compiling themed crosswords, or reusing certain types of clues (e.g. Cryptic)
