You are not restricted to placing pictures in outs and as a background to letters. You can place pictures at any place on the grid, stretched to any size. In this example, the puzzle has been set up to show only letters and to make the rest of the grid opaque. The outs have been individually set to be transparent too. A picture has then been stretched across the entire grid, and placed behind the grid. In a similar way, you could put other picture outlines (e.g. a christmas tree shape) and fill the inside with clues to fit as well as possible. Creative possibilities for this are limitless.
