Example Puzzle - American Style

Home Contents Previous Next Order

This simple example shows an American-style crossword. You can see that when you click on a word, the whole clue is highlighted. Also, when you click on that start of a word on the grid, the clues that start at that square will be displayed in a ToolTip.

You can see that the computer has correctly numbered the clues, and that the outs have been drawn symmetrically. This is aided using the 'reflection' facility, which lets you draw 'outs' (the black squares) onto the grid, and copy them to the opposite side of the grid at the same time - horizontally, vertically, and / or diagonally.
