Registration / Orders
You can use PerlWiz unlicensed for 30 days in order to determine whether you
wish to continue using the product. If you do, we would recommend
purchasing a copy of PerlWiz from the authors for the following reasons:-
- Continued financial support allows the product to be continually
maintained and developed for the benefit of all users
- Registration gives you access to up to a year's free updates and online
support in case of difficulties
- You are supporting the survival of the ShareWare concept, and the
continued availability of smaller software producers in a market where
diversity is disappearing as fast as quality, support, and the voice of the
consumer.
- This is a legal obligation. Continuing to use the product after 30 days
without registration means that you are breaking the law, and are leaving yourself open to
prosecution. In reality, the ShareWare concept relies on a degree of trust
between the user and the supplier.
When you register PerlWiz, you will receive a keycode. This registers a
single user to use the software at any one time. If you believe multiple
users may wish to use the software simultaneously, please purchase multiple
licenses. For more details of the legal agreement that you undertake by using
the product, click here.
To register
PerlWiz, visit the orders page on the PerlWiz web site at http://www.simonhuggins.com/arctan/perlwiz/order.htm
On this page, you will find details of the current cost of registration,
together with information about the latest version of PerlWiz. You can
order using a debit or credit card and receive an instant confirmation via email
giving you the unlock code that fully registers you product.
For details on how to fully unlock your product, see the instruction page
within the PerlWiz on-line help.

If you own a fully registered copy of PerlWiz, then you are eligible for the
following benefits:-
- Report bugs and receive a response, typically within 2-3 days
- Time for bug-fixes varies according to the nature of the problem - if it's
easy to fix and verify, then it can fixed in a day. If further
information is required to diagnose a problem, then it can take longer.
PerlWiz is being improved all the time to help with this problem-solving
process.

- Notification of updates to PerlWiz - you will be the first to know of any
new releases - major and minor
- New keycodes for any new versions of PerlWiz, for twelve months from the
date of registration
(n.b. new builds / bug fixes do not count as new versions and do not require
new keycodes).
- Reduced registration for subsequent years to continue receiving these
benefits (typically 33% of the purchase price)
- Participation and subscription to the
PerlWiz on-line forum
If you own an unregistered copy of PerlWiz, you are eligible for the

These are the contact email addresses to send your enquiries to:-
When you send a support request, try to include:-
- The project file, and any files that were part of the project file as
attachments
- A log of your system. To create this, click on Project menu >>
Properties >> Logging heading >> Select All button. If there is no
log file location, type it in (default is C:\Program Files\PerlWiz\projects\perlwiz.log).
If the bottom-left most button says Logging is off then click on it to
say Logging is on. Click on the Clear log
button, and wait a few seconds for system data to be logged. Click on the
Close button. To log the results of executing a program, execute your
program now. Results will be logged to the log file. To stop logging, click
on the Project menu >> Properties >> Logging
heading again and click
on the Logging is on button so that it now shows Logging
is off. Attach the log file to your email.
- If you get a system error message - e.g. a Memory Address Error etc. then
you will probably be asked to do a low-level trace just prior and during the
operation that caused the error to track down where within the PerlWiz
application the error is occurring. To do this, click on the Project
menu >> Properties >> Logging heading >> PerlWiz Interals
sub-heading >> Start Logging PerlWiz Internals after specified
interval button. The
start time is when logging will start. Default is 10 seconds from when you
clicked on the button. Update this time to 10 seconds from now (again) by
double-clicking in the edit box. The log duration is the length of
time that logging will occur (make this as small as possible, as a LOT of
information gets recorded). Click on the OK button and at the start time, a
countdown clock will appear on the editor page. Recreate the error (click on
the button to continue rather than terminate the application if a
system-level error occurs) and wait until the clock disappears, before
attaching the log file to your email (can be zipped if large).
